a better way to bypass paywalls

I always see 12ft.io recommended as a way to bypass paywalls, but in my experience it only works for a small minority of websites. It doesn't do anything for bigger news sites like the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal, who have probably patched the loophole used by 12ft.io.

Luckily, recently I discovered a better alternative: archive.today. Archive.today lets you look up snapshots of webpages and even upload your own. Just put in the link to the paywalled website and it will show you the last snapshot of that site. It's great for looking up news articles that 12ft.io doesn't cover. In addition, if you have a subscription to a paywalled website, you can archive it and send an archive.today link to your friends so they can all read it, free of paywall. I've used archive.today to read plenty of articles from the New York Times without issue.
